Minister of Defence, Ambrose Lufuma, has called on the Zambia Defence Force to remain steadfast in defending the country’s territorial integrity and to serve the national interest at all times.
Speaking on Friday in Mbala during the induction ceremony for Intake 10 of 2024 at the Special Forces Training School, Lufuma reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting the military in safeguarding Zambia’s sovereignty.
He emphasised that President Hakainde Hichilema expects men and women in uniform to play a pivotal role in national and economic development.
“The government will continue to provide material and financial support to enable Zambian soldiers to serve in United Nations peacekeeping missions abroad,” Lufuma stated.
Meanwhile, Zambia Army Commander Lieutenant General Geoffrey Zyeele described the Special Forces as the final line of defence for national security. He urged the newly inducted personnel to serve with professionalism and pride.
