Swakop Uranium, a Namibian mining company specializing in uranium production, has held preliminary talks with Zambia’s Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development on the possibility of setting up a uranium project in the country.
On Wednesday, Swakop Uranium Executive President Irvine Simataa, accompanied by two company officials, paid a courtesy call on Ministry Permanent Secretary Hapenga Kabeta to explore potential collaboration.
According to a post on the Ministry’s official Facebook page, the discussions focused on developing high-potential uranium projects, with Swakop Uranium expressing interest in greenfield mining ventures in Zambia.
The Namibian firm aims to expand its operations into emerging markets and contribute to clean energy development.
Its vision included being part of a world-class clean energy group committed to environmental sustainability.
If successful, the partnership could mark a significant milestone in Zambia’s efforts to diversify its mining sector and tap into uranium resources for energy and industrial development.
