The Zambia Police Service has said that Professor Nkandu Luo, former 2021 Patriotic Front running mate to late President Edgar Lungu, was scheduled for a police quizz on Monday, June 30, 2025.

In a statement issued in Lusaka on Tuesday, Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the interview had been arranged the previous week in consultation with Luo’s legal representatives.

Hamoonga stated that the planned interview related to a matter currently under police investigation.

However, the interview did not take place after Luo experienced a bereavement in her family.

“In light of this development, the Police, in consultation with her legal representatives, resolved to postpone the interview to allow her time to attend to the family matter,” said Hamoonga.

He further clarified that at no point did the Police request any documentation from Prof. Luo to prove that she had a sick daughter.

“A new date for the interview will be arranged in due course,” he added.
