Their Royal Highnesses Princesses Lalla Khadija, Lalla Meryem and Lalla Hasnaa, accompanied by Mrs. Brigitte Macron, attended, Wednesday evening 22 April 2026 the opening show of the Royal Theatre of Rabat, this iconic building which is intended to be a concretization of the High Solicitude constantly manifested by His Majesty King of Morocco Mohammed VI.

Before returning to the Royal Lodge to follow the show, LL.AA.RR Princesses Lalla Khadija, Lalla Meryem and Lalla Hasnaa, president of the Fondation du Théâtre Royal de Rabat, as well as Ms. Brigitte Macron, were greeted by the members of the Board of Directors of the Foundation.

At the beginning of the show, a film was screened on the Royal Theatre, an institution that symbolizes the cultural and artistic renewal of the capital of the Kingdom and reflects the cultural dynamic that Morocco is experiencing under the enlightened Leadership of His Majesty King of Morocco by promoting a modernist approach to Moroccan art, with everything that results in terms of valorization of creative abilities.

This unique architectural and urban emblem will allow Rabat to rise to the rank of the major international cultural destinations under the visionary impulse of His Majesty and the Kingdom to strengthen its vocation as a land of intercultural dialogue, civilizational interaction and affirmation of universal values and ideals.

After the interpretation of the national anthem by the orchestra and the choir, the audience was invited to an exceptional musical moment, carried by the soloist Marouan Benabdallah in a repertoire of classical music, by the mezzo-soprano Ahlima Mhamdi in great operatic tunes, by Samira Kadiri in an interpretation of the Arab-Andalusian heritage, as well as by Driss.

Thanks to this program exclusively carried by Moroccan artists, the guests witnessed a brilliant artistic and human adventure where composers, soloists, singers, choristers, conductors and musicians came together to celebrate the richness, excellence and diversity of the national, creative and open art scene on the different global musical expressions.

Tchaikovsky’s concerto and arias by Bizet and Verdi were presented alongside Andalusian motives and a contemporary Moroccan touch, merging the universal repertoire with national heritage.

To celebrate this historic moment, an exceptional union took place for the first time involving the Morocco Philharmonic Orchestra, on the cusp of celebrating its thirty years, and the Royal Symphony Orchestra, commemorating its twenty years. Brought together on the same stage under Dina Bensaïd’s conducting, 76 musicians and 40 choristers combined their talents in a shared artistic momentum.

At the end of the show, Their Royal Highnesses Princesses Lalla Khadija, Lalla Meryem and Lalla Hasnaa, accompanied by Mrs. Brigitte Macron, were greeted by Ms. Samira Kadiri, soprano, Mrs. Ahlima Mhamdi, mezzo-soprano, Dina Bensaïd, conductor and concert pianist, Mr. Marouan Benabdallah, pianist, M. Driss El Maloumi, composer and virtuoso of the Oud, and M. Younes Terfas, director of the Royal Symphony Orchestra.

Hundreds of artists, cultural actors, intellectuals, creators of performing arts and visual arts, Moroccan and foreign, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Rabat (ambassadors, business leaders of diplomatic missions, representatives of international organizations) were invited to this opening show.

Located in the heart of the Bouregreg valley, in the continuity of the Hassan Tower and the Mohammed V Mausoleum, the Royal Theatre of Rabat is erected, alongside the Mohammed VI Tower, as a symbol of the renewal and emergence of the capital of the Kingdom, in line with the integrated program of development of the city of Rabat “Rabat City of Light, Moroccan capital of culture”, initiated under the enlightened guidance of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI.
