Puzzling report of ‘missing’ private parts resurfaces in Court as three youths accused of fabricating claims

A puzzling report of “missing” private parts that once reached police desks in Lusaka has now resurfaced in court, with three youths accused of fabricating the claims.

Justine Banda, 31, of Garden House, an 18-year-old from New Kanyama Township, and Benny Kasongo, 21, were facing charges of giving false information to a public officer contrary to Section 125 of the Penal Code.

The State alleges that on March 22, 2026, the trio separately and jointly reported to Lusaka Central Police Station that their penis and testicles had been stolen.

Court documents indicate that Banda is alleged to have personally reported to Detective Inspector Kazembe that his private parts had been stolen, claims police say he knew or believed to be false.

The juvenile and Kasongo are also accused of acting together in making similar false reports to the same officer, thereby allegedly misleading law enforcement with information that had no basis in fact.

The matter came up before Lusaka Magistrate Martin Namushi, where the unusual allegations quickly gave way to procedural concerns over the age of the juvenile accused.

The state submitted to the court that the juvenile’s age remained unverified, as relatives had failed to produce any supporting documents.

The State, therefore, applied for an age assessment to be conducted before the case could proceed to plea.

Magistrate Namushi noted the confusion surrounding the juvenile’s age, remarking that even guardians were unable to state basic details such as the month of birth.

He consequently adjourned the matter to May 22, 2026, for possible plea, stating that the age assessment was necessary to resolve the impasse before further proceedings could continue.
