The wife of sub-chief Natende Walushiba says her husband, Dr. Katele Kalumba, was picked up from their home in Chienge this afternoon by a group of armed soldiers.
Lumba Kalumba said the sub-chief, a former Finance Minister, was taken around 12:30 hours and driven to Chienge Police Station where the soldiers initially said they wanted to ask him some questions.
In a facebook livestream on Wednesday, September 23, Lumba said upon arrival at the police station, the soldiers changed their minds and decided to take her husband to Mansa instead.
She said permission was sought for his life-saving medication to be brought for him, explaining that he was a known cardiac patient who suffered heart failure last year.

Lumba added that Kalumba also has spondylosis of the spine and was still healing from a serious fracture to his left ankle sustained last year, and required medication to manage all the conditions.
“Unfortunately, the soldiers could not be bothered about his health and they drove off. I’m told they’ve gone to Mansa,” she said.
Lumba dismissed claims that reports of his detention were fake, insisting that as his wife she knew the truth but did not know his whereabouts.
“Those people who are saying it is fake that he hasn’t been picked up let them come and say that to my face because I’m his wife and I know where he is and where he’s not,” she said.
Lumba said she was still awaiting confirmation that they had reached Mansa.
