Three juveniles of the same family in Lusaka’s Kabanana Compound have died from an inferno, Police Officials have revealed.
Emmasdale Police Station, through Chipwalu Police Post, received a report of a tragic fire incident on May 02,2025, at approximately 21:30 hours.
Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga confirmed the death of the three Juveniles in a statement issued in Lusaka on Saturday.
“The report was made by Emmanuel Phiri, aged 34, of Kabanana Compound, Two Ngwee area, whose house was gutted by fire resulting in the death of his three children,” Hamoonga said.
According to Phiri, he left his home around 18:00 hours to pick up his wife from Chazanga Compound, leaving behind his three children in the house and while at Chalo Banthu in Chazanga, he received a distress call from a neighbour alerting him that his house was on fire.
Phiri rushed back and confirmed the unfortunate news upon arrival and found members of the public attempting to extinguish the fire and rescue the children.
Despite their efforts, the fire was only quenched after it had completely consumed the house and its contents.
“Tragically, the bodies of three juvenile victims were later recovered from the debris,” Hamoonga said.

The deceased have been identified as:
M’J Nathan Phiri, aged 7
M’J Emmanuel Phiri Jr., aged 4
M’J Subilo Phiri, aged 2
All three sustained fatal burns.
He said the cause of the fire was yet to be established, and investigations were instituted Police after visited the scene and confirmed the report.
“The value of the property destroyed has not yet been determined.
“The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) Mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination,” Hamoonga said.
He urged members of the public to continue exercising caution and ensure fire safety in their homes.
