Zambia and Botswana played out a thrilling 1-1 draw in an international friendly match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
Barbra Banda opened the scoring for the Copper Queens in the 67th minute.
After Botswana goalkeeper Lesego Moeng failed to hold onto a long-range strike from Evarine Katongo, Banda was on hand to finish from close range.
Botswana responded just 12 minutes later when Refilwe Tholakele’s fierce drive was parried by Zambian goalkeeper Mwila Chishala Mufunte. Gaonyadiwe Ontlametse capitalised on the loose ball, slotting home the equaliser in the 79th minute.
The Copper Queens had several opportunities to extend their lead before the leveller.
Star striker Racheal Kundananji was a constant threat, striking the crossbar in the 49th minute after a deflection from Thanda Mokgabo, and narrowly missing the target in the 35th minute.

As the match drew to a close, both teams sought a decisive goal.
Zambia’s Mercy Chipasula saw her 89th-minute free-kick superbly saved by Moeng, who also denied Kundananji moments later with a crucial stop.
The result serves as vital preparation for both sides ahead of their forthcoming international campaigns.
