He said Zambia had become a destination of choice for Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) due to its political stability and condusive business environment.

“Investor’s interest in Zambia’s mining sector remains high, as Government works to position Zambia as a mining hub for the global green economy and one stop shop for electric vehicle batteries,” he said after holding meetings on the sidelines of the ongoing Investing in African Mining Indaba in South Africa.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by First Secretary Press and Public Relations Zambia High Commission in South Africa,Tamara Nyirenda, several companies had expressed interest in the country’s mining sector.

Nyirenda said some investors made inquiries on Mopani Copper Mines with proposals on bringing the mine asset to full production.

The minister is expected to hold more bilateral meetings.

Meanwhile, ZCCM Investment Holdings (ZCCM-IH) Board Chairperson Dolika Banda, said the organisation was keen on getting Mopani to its full production.

Banda said this would be done by ensuring liquidity challenges were addressed as it was a strategic asset in meeting the three million metric tonnes of copper production target.

The indaba provides a vital platform to create space for networking and creating investment opportunities.
