Zambia’s Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Tobias Mulimbika, has reaffirmed the strong bilateral ties between Zambia and Kenya, grounded in shared values, Pan-Africanism, mutual respect, and the vision of a united and prosperous Africa.

Dr. Mulimbika expressed appreciation for the enduring relationship between the two countries and emphasized the need for continued collaboration in promoting unity, peace, and Africa’s rich cultural heritage.

He made the remarks when Kenya’s Ambassador to Japan, Moi Lemoshira, paid a courtesy call on him at the Zambian Embassy in Tokyo, according to a statement issued by Faith Chilube, First Secretary for Press and Public Relations at the Zambian Mission.

Welcoming Kenya’s call for deeper engagement, Mulimbika highlighted areas of potential collaboration, particularly in regional cooperation, foreign service excellence, and transformative infrastructure development that benefits the continent.

He reiterated Zambia’s readiness to engage through institutions such as the Zambia Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies and reaffirmed support for strengthening partnerships among African missions in Japan.

In his remarks, Ambassador Lemoshira expressed Kenya’s deep gratitude for Zambia’s unwavering support at both continental and global platforms.

“It is important for the two countries to continue enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including defense, security, and foreign service capacity building,” he said.

Lemoshira also underscored the importance of regional and continental integration initiatives such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

He reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to promoting an Afrocentric foreign policy and strengthening intra-African partnerships to advance sustainable development, economic growth, and peace.

“I also want to extend an invitation to Zambia to collaborate with the Kenya Foreign Service Academy to enhance foreign service training and knowledge exchange across the continent,” he said.

Lemoshira further proposed increased engagement on foreign service excellence and joint efforts to promote African interests at global platforms, including the upcoming Osaka Expo 2025 and the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), to be held this year in Japan.

Chilube stated that the two envoys agreed on the importance of fostering unity among African missions in Japan, sharing opportunities, and collaborating with Japan to achieve mutual objectives.

She said the courtesy call signified a renewed commitment by Zambia and Kenya to deepen diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties, while working together to promote Africa’s collective development and global presence.
