Police in Kawambwa District of Luapula Province have launched a manhunt for a 16-year-old boy who is alleged to have defiled a two-year-old girl.
Luapula Province Police Commanding Officer, Lucky Munkhondya, said police received a report of defilement at Kawambwa Police Station on Sept. 21, 2026, involving a two-year-old girl.
Munkhondya said the child had gone to play at a neighbour’s house in the morning when she was allegedly sexually abused by the neighbour’s son.
She said the child returned home shortly afterwards and informed her mother about what had happened.
“The mother inspected the victim and observed bruises, swelling, and semen on her private parts,” Munkhondya said.
The child was subsequently taken to hospital for medical examination, where findings were reported to be consistent with the alleged offence, police said.
Munkhondya said no arrest had been made as the suspected offender was on the run.
“Efforts to locate and apprehend the suspect have been instituted,” she said.
