KBF & Partners has applied to the Lusaka High Court for a default judgment against former Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Commander, Lieutenant General Eric Chimese, over unpaid legal fees amounting to K7,730,000.
The application, filed on July 10, 2025, seeks judgment in default of both appearance and defence after Chimese failed to respond to a writ of summons issued by the law firm.
As of the time of filing, the judgment had not yet been signed by the presiding judge.

According to a statement of claim lodged on June 11, 2025, Chimese engaged KBF & Partners in March 2019 to represent him in a criminal matter before the Subordinate Court, under cause number 2SG/055/2019.
The case, which also involved businessman James Chungu, concluded with Chimese’s acquittal in May 2023.
The law firm stated that it provided professional legal services throughout the proceedings. Chimese reportedly made an initial deposit of K100,000 and verbally agreed to settle the balance once the final invoice was issued.
On August 15, 2023, KBF & Partners invoiced Chimese for K7,730,000.
However, the firm claims that no further payment was made, despite Chimese acknowledging the debt and giving repeated verbal assurances that he would settle the bill in instalments.
The law firm said it issued a formal letter of demand on April 14, 2025. In response, Chimese requested additional time to mobilise funds but ultimately failed to make any payment.
KBF & Partners argued that Chimese’s continued failure to honour his financial obligations—despite multiple undertakings—had resulted in financial loss and inconvenience to the firm.
