The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has reportedly recorded business transactions worth US$30.1 million following a recent Trade Mission to Angola.

ZDA’s Head of Communications and Public Relations, Kwali Mfuni, revealed in a statement on Monday that 20 Zambian companies participated in the mission, held from 24th to 26th July 2025 in Luanda, coinciding with the 40th edition of the Luanda International Trade Fair (FILDA).

The deals encompassed the supply of key commodities such as cooking oil, cereals, honey, groundnuts, agricultural fertilisers, and engineering equipment. Service contracts, including mining consultancy, were also secured.

Mfuni noted that the participating firms represented diverse sectors, including manufacturing, agro-processing, agriculture, mining, and construction.

The mission also generated promising leads for joint ventures with Angolan companies, aimed at facilitating market entry and expanding bilateral trade.

“The primary goals were to establish new private sector linkages between Zambia and Angola, explore trade opportunities, introduce Zambian products to the Angolan market, and promote direct engagement between businesses from both countries,” Mfuni said.

A highlight of the mission was the pre-arranged business-to-business (B2B) meetings, which fostered partnerships and unlocked investment prospects.

The initiative also aimed to strengthen economic relations by leveraging bilateral trade agreements and infrastructure projects such as the Lobito Corridor.

Aligned with FILDA 2025, the Trade Mission provided a platform for Zambian companies to explore regional partnerships and access broader export markets beyond Angola.

The mission was organised by ZDA, supported by the Lobito Corridor Trade Facilitation Project and the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry.

On the Angolan side, it was facilitated by the Agency for Private Investment and Promotion of Exports of Angola (AIPEX).
