Zambia Under-20 Men’s National Team defender, David Hamansenya, has reportedly signed his first professional contract with Spanish second-division side CD Leganés.
The 18-year-old Shamuel Soccer Academy starlet, who featured for the Zambia U-20 at the Egypt 2025 AFCON, has risen steadily through the national youth structures, representing the country at U-15, U-17, and U-20 levels.
According to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), Hamansenya has now come of age and sealed the move to Europe.
The club also confirmed the signing on its website.
“I am very happy, and this is a dream come true for me. I have waited for this moment, and I am really excited to finally sign my professional contract,” Hamansenya said.

He said: “I want to thank Evans Kangwa, owner of Shamuel Academy, and my agent Nir Karin, who have both helped and guided me through this journey. I will forever be grateful to them, and to the entire Shamuel family – thank you for everything, you’re forever in my heart.”
Hamansenya was previously handed a senior national team call-up by then-coach Wedson Nyirenda during the early stages of the CHAN tournament.
However, he missed out on making his debut as the competition was postponed, eventually paving the way for his move to Spain.
