President Hakainde Hichilema will join citizens across the country in commemorating the National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation, the Presidency has announced.
State House Chief Communications Specialist, Clayson Hamasaka, confirmed this in a statement issued in Lusaka on Friday, the eve of the commemoration.
President Hichilema said the day serves as a reminder of the faith, unity, and shared purpose that continue to guide Zambia’s national journey.
He urged Zambians to use the occasion to reflect on their collective progress and renew their commitment to the values of peace, unity, forgiveness, hard work, and mutual respect.
“Our enduring motto, ‘One Zambia, One Nation,’ is not just a slogan but a call to build bridges, find strength in diversity, and work together for a better future,” President Hichilema stated.
Reflecting on Psalm 133:1 — “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity” — the President encouraged citizens to let truth guide their prayers and actions, noting that unity and peace are not only national values but also a collective responsibility.

He said the day offers every Zambian an opportunity to give thanks to God for His continued grace and protection over the country, seek forgiveness where they have fallen short, and recommit to living in harmony.
“The Government reaffirms its dedication to upholding freedom of worship and ensuring that faith remains a unifying force in our society,” he added.
As the nation gathers in prayer and reflection, President Hichilema urged citizens to approach the day in a spirit of humility and togetherness, remembering that Zambia’s progress depends on what unites them under God’s guidance and blessing.
He reaffirmed the supremacy of God over the nation, quoting Psalm 33:12: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He chose for His inheritance.”
