President Hakainde Hichilema has pledged K500,000 towards the construction project at St. Paul’s Congregation in Kasama District of Northern Province.

The pledge was delivered on Sunday by the President’s Special Assistant for Politics, Levy Ngoma, during a church service at UCZ St. Paul’s Congregation.

Alongside the donation, Hichilema urged Zambians to refrain from spreading falsehoods and misinformation, warning that such actions have the potential to undermine the country’s peace and unity.

He described the rise in misinformation as worrisome, noting that Zambia’s longstanding peace should not be taken for granted.

“Citizens must rise and reject falsehoods in order to maintain peace and unity in the country,” he said.

The Head of State further appealed to citizens to remain united despite belonging to different political groupings, adding that national peace is a collective responsibility.

Meanwhile, the United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Northern Presbytery leadership expressed gratitude to President Hichilema for demonstrating strong political will that has contributed to peaceful political campaigns in Kasama.

“Peaceful campaigns before and during elections allow electorates to freely choose their leaders,” said UCZ Presbytery Secretary, Rev. Bishop George Sindaza.

He commended political players for promoting peace and unity and encouraged them to continue fostering the same spirit.

Similarly, Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Chipoka Mulenga urged the Church to continue praying for peace, love and unity to prevail in the nation.
