Governance and Development Advocates Zambia (GODAZA) has called on stakeholders to respect the authority of the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), emphasizing that its mandate was firmly enshrined in the Constitution.

In a statement issued on Sunday, GODAZA Executive Director, Elias Mulenga, stressed that the ongoing delimitation process was a constitutional exercise that must not be subjected to political interference.

He highlighted that the ECZ derived its authority from Article 229 of the Constitution, which empowered the commission to oversee all electoral matters.

The delimitation exercise, set to begin on 16 February 2026 across all districts, is being conducted in accordance with Article 230(1) of the Constitution and the Electoral Process Act No. 35 of 2016, Mulenga noted.

He warned that any attempts to undermine the ECZ for political gain or social media attention were unconstitutional.

Mulenga reminded citizens that delimitation reports were publicly accessible and reflect the will of the people.

He urged all Zambians to uphold the rule of law and protect constitutional processes, calling on citizens to actively participate and make meaningful submissions during the exercise to ensure its success.
