Police in Southern Province are investigating a case of sexual exploitation of a child, reported at Choma Central Police Station on June 16, 2026, at 13:10 hours, by a 54 year old man of Lukupa Village, Chief Mapanza.
The reporter alleged that his 17-year-old son of the same village had been sexually exploited by a 35 year old woman, also of Lukupa Village, Chief Mapanza, Choma District.
Southern Province Police Commanding Officer, Moono Namalongo, confirmed this in a statement issued in Choma on Wednesday.
Brief facts of the matter were that between November 30, 2025, and June 16, 2026, the suspect allegedly took the juvenile into her home and cohabited with him as husband and wife.

“The reporter stated that he repeatedly engaged the suspect and advised her to release his son, as he was still a child under the care of his parents,” Namalongo said.
He said the suspect, however, allegedly refused to do so, prompting the matter to be reported to the Police.
Following the report, Police officers visited the suspect’s residence and upon arrival, the juvenile was found to have left for an unknown destination.
“The suspect was apprehended and interviewed and during the interview, she stated that it was the juvenile who had proposed a romantic relationship to her, and that she had accepted the proposal,” Namalongo said.
He stated that the suspect has since been detained in Police custody for the offence of sexual exploitation of a child contrary to Section 19(a) of the Children’s Code Act No. 12 of 2022.
Investigations into the matter were ongoing.
