African corporates will have an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) at a capacity-building programme slated for Cairo in June this year, organisers said on Tuesday.
The programme is led by Afreximbank in partnership with American University in Cairo and the AfCFTA Secretariat.
It aims to equip businesses with practical knowledge to operate under the AfCFTA, including guidance on export operations, trade finance and supply-chain management.

Organisers said that while the AfCFTA offered major opportunities for regional integration, many companies still lack clarity on its technical provisions, limiting their ability to make full use of the agreement.
“This programme is a strategic platform for advancing the adoption and understanding of the AfCFTA,” said Yemi Kale, noting that participants will gain a holistic view of the agreement and its market opportunities.
Mohamed Ali, Director of Trade in Goods and Competition at the AfCFTA Secretariat, said the initiative was a critical step toward equipping businesses with the tools needed to effectively utilise the agreement.
Stephen Tio Kauma, Afreximbank’s Managing Director of Human Resources, said the programme, delivered through AFRACAD, would continue to serve as a key platform for strengthening trade-related skills across the continent.
