Chelsea earned a crucial three points in the race for Europe, defeating Everton 1-0 in a tight encounter at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues, aiming to secure Champions League qualification for next season, moved up to fourth in the Premier League table thanks to Nicolas Jackson’s clinical first-half strike.

Enzo Maresca’s men controlled much of the first half, creating several chances and forcing a series of strong saves from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

According to The Independent, Jackson’s breakthrough came with a superbly placed shot from 20 yards, hitting the inside of the post before nestling in the net—his first goal from outside the penalty area.

Everton improved after halftime following attacking changes from David Moyes, but Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez made two crucial saves to deny Beto and Dwight McNeil and preserve the lead.

Jackson ended a long scoring drought stretching back to December 15, delivering a composed finish just as Chelsea’s push for European football intensifies. Suspended head coach Enzo Maresca watched from the stands as his side ground out the vital victory.

Reflecting on Jackson’s goal, midfielder Romeo Lavia said: “He may not have done it in the Premier League before, but I’ve seen him score goals like that loads in training. I’m not surprised. I’m really happy for him.”

Lavia also celebrated his return to the starting XI, adding: “I had a lot of fun today being back in the team and helping to secure a big win. Everton improved in the second half, but that’s football — everyone has their moments.”
