Ecobank Zambia has announced a K75,000 sponsorship of the upcoming TotalEnergies Half Marathon, scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
The bank’s Head of Marketing and Brand Communications, Glenda Kamalata, said the event — which is expected to attract more than 1,500 runners — had become a beacon of active citizenship, unity, and perseverance across Zambia.
Speaking during the cheque handover ceremony on Friday at TotalEnergies’ head office in Lusaka, Kamalata stated that the partnership represented more than a corporate donation, calling it a reflection of the bank’s deep-rooted commitment to the health and vitality of the communities it serves.
“The marathon aligns seamlessly with our broader brand and wellness strategy, which aims to foster a healthy lifestyle not just within our institutions, but throughout the nation,” Kamalata said.
She explained that by encouraging physical activity and supporting platforms that promote both mental and physical well-being, the bank was actively contributing to building a stronger, more resilient society.
Kamalata added that 70 Ecobank employees have expressed interest in participating and have since been sponsored by the bank to run across the three main race categories: the 21km Half Marathon, 10km, and 5km fun run.

Meanwhile, TotalEnergies Zambia Head of Finance, Florence Kwenda, thanked the bank for its gesture and assured that the Half Marathon would be a success.
Kwenda said the marathon aims to promote inclusion, community building, and wellness, with proceeds supporting impactful community initiatives.
“The partnership with Ecobank highlights the importance of collaborative corporate responsibility and the positive impact that businesses can have on the community when they work together,” she stated.
Kwenda also noted that the TotalEnergies Women’s Initiative for Communication and Exchange (TWICE) will implement the supported initiatives, advancing the goals of corporate social responsibility (CSR).
