Zambia Netball Federation suspends Midlands Executive Committee over financial records

The Zambia Netball Federation has reportedly suspended the entire Executive Committee of the Midlands Netball Association (MINA) from all netball-related activities with immediate effect, citing failure to submit financial records for 2024 and the first quarter of 2025.

In a letter dated June 14, 2025, and addressed to the MINA General Secretary, Federation Secretary General, Pritchard Ngoma, stated that the decision was prompted by the Midlands executive’s repeated disregard for accountability and governance protocols.

“We have written to the Midlands Netball Association Executive three times requesting their management accounts. Unfortunately, they have chosen to ignore all the correspondence,” Ngoma said.

He emphasized that such non-compliance constituted a serious breach of governance standards, leaving the Federation with no choice but to suspend the entire executive body.

The suspended officials have been instructed to hand over all association-related documents and materials to Netball Zambia Treasurer, Edwin Kankutula, within 24 hours of receiving the official suspension letter.

“Failure to comply with this directive will compel us to escalate the matter to other relevant authorities for appropriate intervention,” Ngoma warned.

He clarified that the suspension is administrative in nature and aimed at restoring order and accountability within netball operations in the Midlands region.

Affiliates under the Midlands Netball Association have been notified of the suspension through the same communication.

“This development should not alarm our athletes and officials. We are committed to ensuring that netball activities continue smoothly in the region while the matter is being addressed,” Ngoma assured.

He reaffirmed Netball Zambia’s commitment to promoting transparency, professionalism, and good governance at all levels of the sport.
