Energy Regulation Board crashes July prices of petrol, diesel, others

The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has announced a reduction in fuel pump prices for the month of July, attributing the change to a stronger Kwacha and lower premiums on the international market.

Effective July 1, petrol will now sell at K28.00, down from K31.36, while diesel will cost K23.13, reduced from K25.12.

The price of kerosene has dropped to K21.98 from K24.79, and Jet A-1 fuel will now sell at K23.94, down from K27.08.

ERB Board Chairperson, James Banda. said the changes followed a 11.20 percent appreciation of the Kwacha in June 2025, from K27.06/US$ to K24.03/US$, and reductions in premiums under the Tanzania Bulk Procurement System (BPS).

Petrol premiums fell by 20.33 percent, while kerosene and Jet A-1 declined by 5.64 percent.

“Although international oil prices increased marginally, the Kwacha’s appreciation and premium reductions more than offset the impact,” Banda said in a statement issued on Monday.

He also noted that the TAZAMA Open Access system, introduced in April, had started yielding positive results.
