Renowned Nigerian actor, Ramsey Nouah, has urged African filmmakers to use the continent’s rich landscapes, culture and history to tell authentic stories that can reshape how Africa is viewed around the world.
Speaking during a visit to Livingstone, Nouah said Africa’s natural attractions should serve not only as tourist destinations but also as locations for films, documentaries and other productions that showcase the continent’s identity.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Nouah is among a delegation of international filmmakers attending the Africa Creative Market (ACM), Creative Industries Business Summit (CIBS) and the Kwimbo National Arts Festival in Lusaka.

The delegation toured Livingstone under a programme organised by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts.
The itinerary included Victoria Falls, Angel’s Pool, Mukuni Boma, where they experienced traditional cuisine and cultural performances, and a cruise on the Zambezi River.
Describing the trip as unforgettable, Nouah praised Zambia’s scenery, hospitality and cultural heritage, saying African filmmakers have a responsibility to document and share genuine African experiences with global audiences.
The delegation also included Executive Producer of 77 Tonye Princewill, Executive Producer Adonijah Owiriwa, director Izu Ojukwu and The Explorers producer Thiago Tostes.
Owiriwa said his first visit to Lusaka inspired the production of 77, a film that promotes African unity and identity.
He also called for the removal of visa restrictions across the continent, arguing that easier movement would strengthen collaboration within Africa’s creative industries.
Owiriwa said African storytellers must take ownership of their narratives through film and other creative platforms to preserve the continent’s history and present authentic stories to the world.
