The Zambia Police Service in Kabwe District says it has apprehended a 29-year-old man following an intelligence-led operation on June 23, 2026.
Police Spokesperson, Godfrey Chilabi, identified the suspect as James Thole, who was picked up at around 12:00 hours.
In a statement issued in Lusaka on Tuesday, Chilabi said Thole had been on the wanted list in connection with several offences.
The charges include illegal practices in respect of a public meeting, malicious damage to property, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
“The suspect had been on the Police wanted list in connection with offences of illegal practices in respect of a public meeting, malicious damage to property, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm,” Chilabi stated.
It was alleged that on June 7, 2026, at around 14:00 hours, Thole disrupted a lawful public gathering at Katondo Primary School grounds.

“He is also alleged to have been involved in three counts of malicious damage to property arising from incidents that occurred on the same date in Katondo Compound,” he said.
Chilabi stated that Thole, jointly acting with unknown persons, targeted a political party gathering for the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity.
“In the first count, he and others, allegedly armed with stones, sticks, and catapults, damaged property belonging to Beatrice Nsemiwe of Katondo Compound,” he said.
The suspect is also facing one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in respect of James Misepo and remains in custody.
Investigations are ongoing pending formal charges and Police have formally warned and cautioned Thole for the stated offences.
“The Zambia Police Service wishes to assure the public that all persons found wanting will be dealt with in accordance with the law, regardless of status or affiliation,” Chilabi said.
