Kabwe Warriors celebrate win over Nkana, vow to fight for top four

Relegation threatened Kabwe Warriors coach Mumamba Numba says Warriors will fight to get more wins in the second round of the Super League to avoid dropping into the National Division one league.

Numba said the win over Nkana last Sunday gave Warriors the needed confidence to fight for survival in the League where they seat on 16th position with 19 points collected from three wins, ten draws and five defeats.

“We really needed the win over Nkana to improve on our confidence so that we can push in our next game. We need to get more wins as we go into the second round because we have to move out of relegation zone and finish in a respectable position.

“I think we still have a chance to finish in the top four if only we can continue winning so our aim is to first move out of relegation and then try as much as possible so that we can even finish in the top four bracket,” Numba said in an interview on Tuesday in Lusaka.

Asked if he has the material needed to survive relegation Numba said; “the players have accounted for themselves very well. The game against Nkana was difficulty but from what I saw the players accounted for themselves well and we just have to encourage them as we go into the next game.”

Warriors will face Forest Rangers in their next fixture scheduled for January 14th in Ndola and Numba is confident his charges will get another positive result after starting his stint as Kabwe Warriors coach with a crucial win over Nkana.

Meanwhile Nkana Football Club coach Beston Chambeshi said the Kitwe giants will bounce back from their shaky start in the Super League following defeat to Kabwe Warriors in the first fixture of the second round.

Chambeshi however noted that Nkana needs a striker who would be able to get the goals needed for the team to escape the relegation zone and finish the FAZ Super League among the top four teams.

Chambeshi said Nkana would fight for a top four finish after a poor show in the first round of the Super League.

After 18 rounds of matches played in the Super League, Nkana are 15th on the 18-team Super League table with 20 points collected from four wins, eight draws and six defeats.

Nkana have only managed to score 12 goals and conceded 13 goals in the first eighteen games of the Super League.
