Chisankane Ward Councillor, Kebby Sikangila, has appeared before the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court on charges of assault and threatening violence, following an alleged altercation with his brother-in-law during a funeral in November, 2024.
Sikangila, 54, of Shantumbu in Chilanga District, is accused of assaulting 65-year-old Francis Mukonde on November 20, 2024, during a family gathering in Libala South after the death of his sister, Maureen Sikangila Mukonde.
According to court records and a police report, Sikangila allegedly accused Mukonde of being responsible for Maureen’s death through suspected witchcraft.

He is reported to have threatened to shoot him and other mourners with a 9mm pistol before striking Mukonde on the back of the head with the weapon, causing severe bleeding.
The confrontation allegedly escalated when Sikangila dragged Mukonde out of the house and handed him two K100 notes, telling him to leave the premises.
After the incident, Sikangila reportedly surrendered himself and the firearm—identified by serial number 1908106558—to Maxwell Sibongo Police Post.
The pistol, which was unloaded at the time, has since been submitted for ballistic examination.
He has been charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm under Section 248 of the Penal Code, and Threatening Violence under Section 90.
The matter has been allocated to Magistrate Mwandu Sakala.
