Lusaka Province Minister, Sheal Mulyata, has warned that corruption will not be tolerated in the execution of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects, emphasizing that these investments were intended to benefit all citizens across constituencies.
Speaking in Kafue on Monday during an engagement meeting with the CDF Committee, Mulyata stated that the government will not condone corrupt practices and that anyone found engaging in such acts will face the full force of the law.
“The government will not condone deals in CDF projects. If such happens, we will come after you. We will not tolerate that,” Mulyata warned.
She stressed that the directive by President Hakainde Hichilema to accelerate the implementation of CDF projects must be followed without excuses by all local authorities and constituencies in Lusaka Province.
The Minister urged the Committee to ensure that all projects were demand-driven, noting that she was pleased with the progress of CDF implementation in Kafue District.
Similarly, Kafue Town Council Chairperson, Buumba Malambo, said the district is exploring ways to expedite the procurement process for 2025 CDF projects to ensure faster implementation and completion.
Meanwhile, Lusaka Province Principal Public Relations Officer Logic Lukwanda reported that Kafue District had undertaken 70 CDF projects between 2022 and 2024, with 46 already completed.
“This follows the expansion of the fund by the government from K1.6 million to the current K36.1 million per constituency,” Lukwanda said.
“In 2022, Kafue undertook 18 projects and completed 17. In 2023, 17 projects were implemented and all completed. In 2024, 16 projects were initiated with 12 completed. This year, 19 projects are lined up and are currently at the procurement stage,” Lukwanda highlighted.
He noted that the sectors receiving the most allocation included education, health, and security infrastructure such as police posts.
