Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, Mulambo Haimbe, has announced that Mozambican President Daniel Francisco Chapo will undertake a three-day working visit to Zambia at the invitation of President Hakainde Hichilema.

In a statement issued in Lusaka on Tuesday, Haimbe said President Chapo’s visit will take place from October 22 to 24, 2025, underscoring the warm and enduring relations between Zambia and Mozambique.

He said the visit marks an important step towards deepening bilateral cooperation anchored on shared values, mutual respect, and a collective vision for regional trade, peace, and stability.

“During the visit, President Hichilema and President Chapo will hold talks at State House in Lusaka, where the two Heads of State are expected to review the status of existing bilateral agreements and explore new areas of cooperation,” he said.

Haimbe noted that Zambia and Mozambique shared longstanding bonds of friendship and solidarity, rooted in historical ties and a shared border.

He added that the two countries continue to cooperate closely within regional and continental frameworks, particularly under the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union (AU), to promote peace, security, and socio-economic integration.

“President Chapo’s visit further reaffirms the commitment of both countries to enhance cross-border trade and infrastructure connectivity, including through ongoing initiatives such as the Nacala Development Corridor, which serves as a key trade route linking Zambia to the Indian Ocean,” Haimbe stated.

On Friday, October 24, 2025, President Chapo will grace Zambia’s 61st Independence Day Celebrations as Guest of Honour before departing Lusaka following the conclusion of his engagements.
