The Namibian Immigration Authorities have deported eight Zambian nationals for various offences, including two women aged 31 and 28 who were removed for illegal entry.
A 30-year-old and a 22-year-old man, both from Shangombo, were deported after serving prison sentences for cannabis possession.
In a statement issued in Lusaka on Tuesday, Department of Immigration Public Relations Officer, Namati Nshinka, said the deported individuals were received on April 20, 2025, by Immigration Officers at the Katima Mulilo Border Control.
Four other men, aged between 23 and 33, were deported for engaging in illegal fishing activities.
Nshinka also disclosed that the Department of Immigration secured 47 convictions, removed 35 illegal immigrants from Zambia, and refused entry to nine individuals who failed to meet immigration requirements between April 17 and 21, 2025.
“Between April 17 and 21, the Department apprehended 248 suspected illegal immigrants of various nationalities for different immigration-related offences during nationwide operations,” he said.

Among these apprehensions, 47 individuals were nabbed during clean-up operations on April 20 and 21 by the Kafue Immigration Office in Makeni, Chilanga, and Kafue town.
The group included 29 Burundians, 11 Zimbabweans, and 7 Congolese nationals, all currently in detention pending screening.
Nshinka further reported that on April 19, 2025, a 27-year-old Congolese national, Yves Mageza, was apprehended in Lusaka for attempting to fraudulently obtain a Zambian National Registration Card during the ongoing mobile registration exercise at Vera Chiluba School.
Mageza was intercepted by officers from the Department of National Registration, Passport and Citizenship before being handed over to Immigration.
Nshinka reiterated the Department’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws and safeguarding national security.
“We continue to urge the public to report any suspected illegal immigrants or suspicious activities to the nearest Immigration Office,” he said.
