FC MUZA has reportedly unveiled Nowell Phiri as the club’s new head coach, taking over the coaching mantle of Lameck Banda, who parted ways with the club.
FC MUZA Chief Executive Officer, Joel Kabika, unveiled Phiri as the new club Head Coach at a ceremony held at Mazabuka Turf club, Wednesday.
According to a statement issued in Mazabuka by FC MUZA Media Team, Phiri, a holder of the CAF A Diploma coaching badge, is known for leading the Elegant Dynamites to their debut Super League promotion in 2018.
He brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as assistant coach at Green Buffaloes and guiding Real Nakonde and KYSA to Super League promotion.
Charles Daka, who previously served as FC MUZA caretaker coach during the 2020/2021 season, will retain his position as assistant coach under Phiri.
During the unveiling ceremony, Phiri expressed gratitude to the club executive for the opportunity to lead the team.
He pledged to work hard to add value to the club and help it achieve its goals.
Meanwhile, Club Chief Executive Officer Joel Kabika expressed confidence in Phiri’s technical ability to deliver on the club’s expectations.
“We know what Mr. Phiri is capable of doing. He is a man we have worked with previously. You will recall that in 2018, he guided the team to promotion into the Super League. Our aim is to do better than we have ever done,” Kabika said.
