Zambia’s Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has warned erring motorists during this festive period that it will not condone any lawlessness on the road.

RTSA acting director and Chief Executive Officer Alinani Msisya expressed concerns of expected high traffic volumes across the country that may result in more accidents.

Msisya was speaking to journalists in Lusaka on Friday when flagging off joint traffic law enforcement to increase compliance levels.

Msisya has since urged motorists to plan their journeys, to avoid accidents and always observe safety rules.
He advised against drunken driving as that possessed a danger to judgement due to the influence of alcohol.

“We will intensify screening of drivers that will be driving under the influence of alcohol and those violating road rules and other regulations will be dealt with accordingly,” Msisya said.

Msisya also urged members of the public to uphold the spirit of safe road culture during the festive period in order to avoid any incidents of accidents.
