The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has reported to the police an incident in which unknown individuals locked the doors at Football House, demanding the removal of General Secretary Reuben Kamanga and his deputy, John Msimuko.

The FAZ offices, which had been briefly locked, have since been reopened.

Addressing journalists at Football House in Lusaka on Tuesday, FAZ President Keith Mweemba said the matter was administrative in nature and would be handled internally.

“All aspects under investigation have been reported to the police, who will handle them accordingly,” Mweemba said.

He said: “We will deal with this matter administratively, and for now, I call for calm as we wait for the police to conclude their investigations.”

FAZ Vice President Mutale Ng’andu also described the incident as unfortunate.

“We invited law enforcement agencies who are currently conducting investigations, and we will wait for a conclusive report before making any further statements,” Ng’andu said.

He added that violence is not the appropriate way to express grievances.

Meanwhile, Police in Lusaka have instituted investigations in a report of criminal tresspass following a report from Football Association of Zambia Secretary General, Reuben Kamanga, on the locking of Football House by unknown individuals.

Kamanga reported the matter to Woodlands Police Station today, May 27, 2025, at approximately 08:50 hours, according to Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga.

Hamoonga in a statement issued in Lusaka on Tuesday said the report was to the effect that unknown individuals unlawfully entered the FAZ Headquarters in Lusaka and tampered with the office security system.

He said the perpetrators were alleged to have removed the existing locks and replaced them with new ones, thereby restricting access to the premises.

“The incident is believed to have occurred between yesterday and today, at an unknown time and according to Kamanga, the suspects left behind ten placards bearing messages calling for his resignation,” Hamoonga said.

He stated that the unknown individuals also took away the original lock and chain that had been securing the entrance and that this prompted Police officers to visit the scene of the incident.

Hamoonga said Fingerprints have been lifted for forensic analysis, and officers successfully cut open the newly installed chains to restore access to the offices for FAZ officials.

He stated that the placards and chain left behind have been collected and secured as evidence.

“We are treating this matter with the seriousness it deserves and urge members of the public with information that may lead to the identification and apprehension of the suspects to come forward and assist the police,” Hamoonga said.
