Zambia’s female rapper, Xaven, has been barred from using the title Kopala Queen following comedienne Sarafina Ntenga’s successful registration of the name as a trademark.
The ruling, confirmed by the Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA), grants Sarafina exclusive rights to the brand, compelling Xaven to remove the title from all her songs and branding.
PACRA announced the development during the 2025 CAMINEX in Kitwe, confirming the registration of Kopala Queen Art Promotion and Ba Kopala Laaka, brands operated by Sarafina.
She also received two certificates of trademark registration dated May 13, 2025.
“The trademark shown above has been registered in part A of the Register in the name of Kopala Queen Art Promotion of Osman Flats, Freedom Avenue, Parklands, Kitwe, Zambia,” reads the certificate issued by PACRA.

Sarafina, who began her comedy career under the name Kopala Queen, said she was surprised when the title was adopted by Xaven and others without her consent.
Now holding legal rights, Sarafina can sue or demand royalties from anyone using the trademarked name, including shout-outs in songs.
PACRA encouraged the public to visit their stand at the Kitwe Showgrounds to learn more about intellectual property registration, filing annual returns, and business registration services.
