The Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) has announced the publication of the Market Price Index for the Second Quarter of 2025 and the Market Price Index Catalogue.
ZPPA Principal Officer for Public Relations Iňutu Mushambatwa stated that this had been published on the website to assist procuring entities and other clients in the description and identification of categories and
products.
Mushambatwa in a statement issued in Lusaka on Thursday advised procuring entities to continue sending soft copies of names and description of products that are not found in the Market Price Index to ZPPA for possible inclusion in subsequent reports.
She also advised procuring entities that the tolerable range of prices for goods, works or services in the Market Price Index which is plus or minus 15 percent
of the average prices, had now been included as minimum and maximum prices published for each item.

“The issuance of the Market Price Index is in accordance with section 12(3) of the Public Procurement Act No.8 of 2020 which requires ZPPA to issue a quarterly Market Price Index to be used by a Controlling Officer, Chief Executive Officer and procuring entities for purposes of making informed price decisions,” Mushambatwa said.
She advised procuring entities to comply with the requirement to further submit Quarterly Stores Reports and Quarterly Reports on the application of the Market Price Index and the Price Reasonableness Analysis in financial evaluations that were required by ZPPA to among other things, analyse prices in the Market Price Index.
In addition, ZPPA advised procuring entities to comply with the requirement to submit Inventory Stores Reports and reports on application of the Market Price Index and Price Reasonableness Analysis in financial evaluations as guided by section 26 (2) (K) and section 82 (3) (a) of the Public Procurement Act and Circular No. 22 of 2022, Circular No. 8 of 2023 and Circular No. 25 of 2024.
“ZPPA wishes to state that the issued Market Price Index shall be in effect until the Authority issues the next quarterly Market Price Index,” she said.
