The Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) claims it has funded 159 agricultural mechanisation projects and 56 energy sector initiatives in response to Zambia’s ongoing climate-related challenges, including drought, hunger, and power shortages.

The total investment in these projects for 2024 was reported to be K135,904,285.

During a status update on empowerment programs for 2025, CEEC emphasized the focus of these projects on enhancing mechanisation, irrigation, alternative energy, and agro-processing capacities to help build resilience for the future.

The commission also highlighted its commitment to supporting Zambian entrepreneurs through affordable financing options.

In addition to the climate-focused initiatives, CEEC said it had disbursed K31,770,146 through its Trade Finance facility to fund 33 projects, aimed at improving business capabilities across Zambia.

Furthermore, the “Own a Taxi, Minibus & Light Truck” loan product allocated K46,950,448.15 to 150 projects, contributing to job creation, asset ownership, and improved transportation services nationwide, the commission claimed.
