The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC), has arrested two Chinese nationals identified as Kexia Zheng, male aged 32 and Chenjiang Chen, female, aged 36, both residents of Lilayi Extension for drug trafficking.
The arrest of the two is in connection with the offence of Trafficking in sachets of 1.5 Grammes of Methamphetamines and 0.96 Grammes of Heroin.
According to a statement issued in Lusaka on Wednesday, DEC Public Relations Officer, Allan Tamba, said officers further seized cash amounting to K8,000, reasonably believed to be proceeds of crime.
In another Lusaka operation, the Commission conducted an intelligence-led operation that resulted in the arrest and joint charging of two suspects, Stanely Simwanza, male aged 30 and Danny Siamoole, male aged 29, both residents of Chibolya community.
The arrest was in connection with the offence of trafficking in cocaine weighing 1.1 gram and also seized was a Toyota Ractis motor vehicle in which the drugs were concealed.
Additionally, DEC officers in Lusaka Province arrested two male suspects in separate operations.
The two, identified as David Tembo, male aged 31, of Kafue, were found in possession of 3.1 kilogrammes of cannabis, while Alfred Kapandela, male aged 62, of Mwachisakulo area in Kafue, was arrested in connection with the offence of possession of 900 grammes of cannabis.
In Chawama Township, Lusaka, the DEC arrested Racheal Shanzi, female aged 26, for trafficking in 16 sachets of cannabis weighing 26.15 grammes following another intelligence-led operation by DEC officers from Lusaka Province.

Furthermore, in Mazabuka District, Southern Province, the DEC jointly charged and arrested three individuals for trafficking in 912.4 grammes of loose cannabis.
“The suspects have been identified as Fulano Malambo, male aged 40, Thina Malambo, female aged 54 and Abby Hanjalika, male aged 61,” Tamba said.
He stated that all suspects arrested during the operations were in lawful custody awaiting court appearances.
Tamba reiterated the Commission’s commitment to safeguarding public health and security by disrupting the supply and demand chain of illicit drugs.
“We continue to urge members of the public to partner with law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking and abuse, as the fight against illicit drugs requires collective community action to protect our nation’s health and wealth,” he said.
