Five people have reportedly died at a gold mine in Mufumbwe District, North-Western Province.
According to an eyewitness, the victims lost their lives after the mine collapsed while they were scavenging for gold during a recent gold rush that has attracted multitudes to the newly discovered site.

“Five bodies have been retrieved from the site where they were scavenging for gold. Police will issue a formal statement shortly to confirm the tragic incident,” the eyewitness told Zambia Monitor.
