The government has reportedly handed over some infrastructure projects financed under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and disbursed a total of K6,094,200 in 2025 CDF empowerment grants and loans to 91 cooperatives in Nsama District.

Northern Province Permanent Secretary, Bernard Mpundu, said the handover of these projects reflected President Hakainde Hichilema’s continued commitment to improving the lives of Zambians through enhanced infrastructure and service delivery.

Mpundu made these remarks during a handover ceremony in Nsama District, according to a statement issued in Kasama on Saturday by Northern Province Principal Public Relations Officer, Sandra Mulenga.

“Infrastructure is the backbone of economic and social development, hence the government’s continued investment in community-driven projects,” Mpundu said.

He noted that the newly completed facilities would boost access to healthcare and education while also enhancing safety and security in the district.

Mpundu urged beneficiaries to use the financial resources wisely to create wealth, grow their businesses, and lift their families out of poverty.

“The use of these funds will be strictly monitored under the Financial Management Act, and any misuse will result in serious consequences,” he added.

Nsama District Commissioner Steward Katele praised the impact of the CDF in transforming the district, while Senior Chief Nsama commended the government for delivering key infrastructure projects.

The completed and handed-over projects under the 2024 CDF allocation include:

Munwa Health Post

1×3 Classroom Block at Mupundu Primary School

Kampinda Police Post

Mini Mortuary at Nsama Rural Health Centre

In addition to the infrastructure developments, Mpundu also reportedly disbursed CDF empowerment funds to support entrepreneurship and job creation. A total of 58 clubs and cooperatives are said to have received grants amounting to K2,320,000, while 33 cooperatives were awarded loans totaling K3,774,200.
