Gwembe Town Council Chairperson, Collet Ndhlovu, has stressed the need for clear and user-friendly Constituency Development Fund (CDF) guidelines to enhance national and local development.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Gwembe Town Council Public Relations Officer, Coswell Hantuba, Ndhlovu made the remarks during a validation meeting on the draft CDF guidelines.
He urged stakeholders to take full advantage of the opportunity to contribute to the development of a robust document that would facilitate the effective implementation of CDF across the country.
“I wish to commend the government for promoting inclusive policies that drive economic development, as we continue to highlight the strides made under the New Dawn administration,” Ndhlovu said.
He added that creating a document that reflects the interests of key stakeholders was a crucial step in addressing the challenges currently affecting the implementation of the fund.
Ndhlovu also cited various achievements in Gwembe District supported by the CDF, including the construction of maternity annexes, classroom blocks, roads, and sponsorship of students for skills training.
He further commended the government for introducing free education, revitalizing mining activities, promoting agricultural development, and boosting national productivity.
Meanwhile, Kkota-Kkota Ward Councillor Edward Gama said the validation meeting gave stakeholders a valuable platform to propose improvements to the CDF framework, which would help refine its implementation nationwide.
