Patriotic Front (PF) acting President, Given Lubinda, says the exact date of former president Edgar Lungu body’s arrival was still unknown, and that the public will be informed once the details were confirmed.

The government had initially stated that the body of the late president Lungu who died on June 5, 2025 in Pretoria South Africa, would arrive on Wednesday.

Speaking at the PF Secretariat in Lusaka on Monday when the opposition United Front paid their last respects to the late former President, Lubinda stated that the burial programme had also not being finalized.

He said the family to the late President had communicated to the PF Central Committee that it was uncertain on the date on which his body will arrive in Zambia.

Lubinda stated that the uncertainty surrounding the arrival date had led to a lack of programming for the buriql despite the government having commenced the clearing of the grave site at Embassy Park.

“The party will follow the family’s guidance and inform the public accordingly, as of now we are just waiting. I know the Secretary to the Cabinet has announced that Belvedere will be the gathering place for mourning,” he said.

Lubinda insisted that the PF Secretariat would remain as the party’s official gathering place for mourning in respect of the wishes of the party members who want to mourn their former late president.
