Minister of Transport and Logistics, Frank Tayali, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), describing them as “the present drivers of job creation, local investment, and inclusive development.”

Tayali was speaking at the official opening of the 2025 B2B Expo and SME Conference in Ndola on Friday, hosted by the Ndola District Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the leadership of its president, Diana Kabaila.

Held under the theme “SMEs: The Now and Future Corporate Businesses,” this year’s event highlighted the crucial role of SMEs in Zambia’s economic transformation.

“Our national economy draws strength from the vision and tenacity of those building businesses from the ground up.

“This Expo is a shining example of public-private cooperation working for Zambia’s future,” Tayali said.

He outlined key government support measures including investments in road and logistics infrastructure to improve market access, simplification of business registration and formalisation processes, and the promotion of local content and procurement to empower Zambian enterprises.

Tayali, who is also the Ndola Central lawmaker, addressed concerns about the poor state of roads in the city’s industrial zones.

He assured stakeholders that urgent rehabilitation works were already underway.

“A strong economy demands a strong transport network, and I remain committed to ensuring that,” he said.

The added: “Let us support local enterprise. Let us build a Zambia where no business is too small to dream big.”

Meanwhile, Chamber President, Diana Kabaila, praised the resilience and ambition of Zambia’s entrepreneurs.

She called for increased support in SME financing, regulatory streamlining, and infrastructure development, particularly road networks vital to business operations.
