A 50-year-old night watchman identified as Chivweta Kafwainda has been found murdered at a Lottery Club in Luanshya, Copperbelt Province.
According to Copperbelt Police Commissioner, Peacewell Siandenge, the body was discovered on the morning of April 14, 2025, by Council Police Officer, Fresher Mbewe, who had been conducting routine checks on security posts.
Upon arriving at the Lottery Club around 08:59 hours, Mbewe found the main gate locked and one of the office doors open.
He scaled the gate and, along with a colleague Richard Lungu, entered the premises where they found the lifeless body of Kafwainda in the Lottery Hall.

“The deceased sustained fatal head injuries and was found lying in a pool of blood,” Siandenge said in a statement on Wednesday.
Police suspect the murder occurred between 01:00 and 02:00 hours.
The assailants reportedly broke into an office at the premises but only ransacked documents without stealing anything of value.
The body has since been deposited at Thompson District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
A docket has been opened and investigations are ongoing, though no arrests have been made.
