Prosecutors presented four witnesses: the victim’s aunt, the girl herself, a social welfare officer, and the prosecuting officer.

Testimony revealed that the victim regularly sold frozen treats (“freezits”) at Kamando’s makeshift shop and that the pastor lured her into isolated areas on three occasions.

The first incident was in a nearby maize field, Kamando penetrated the victim.

The second time was at his roadside shop, he attempted intercourse; the victim escaped, leaving her undergarment behind while on the third time, again at the shop, he tried to force himself on her; she fled after opening the door, and followed her complaining that he was “hungry and unsatisfied,” according to court records.

All witnesses positively identified Kamando as the perpetrator.

Magistrate Hampungani noted that the carnal knowledge of a minor was “unlawful” and “heinous,” mandating a minimum prison term.

He referred the matter to the High Court for sentencing.
