Police in Copperbelt Province have arrested and charged two small-scale miners, commonly known as “Jerabos,” with Conduct Likely to Cause a Breach of Peace following a disturbance at Black Mountain in Kitwe.
The incident was reported at Kasanda Police Station on May 13, 2025, around 08:00 hours, involving Don Mwenda and other individuals.
Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued in Lusaka on Thursday.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Mwenda allegedly assaulted 34-year-old Garrison Maziba of Nkuruma Extension during the disturbance, which took place between 08:00 and 09:00 hours.
“A team of police officers was immediately dispatched to the scene to restore order,” Hamoonga said.
