Lusaka’s social scene was lit up Saturday night as Jimmy and Kadi Karabassis tied the knot in a dazzling wedding celebration that featured Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz as the headline act.
Hosted at the luxurious Glynview Estate in New Kasama, the event drew a glamorous crowd, with some guests reportedly arriving in private jets ✈️—a testament to the event’s high-end nature.
Kadi, daughter of a well-known Lusaka-based businessman, exchanged vows with Jimmy Karabassis, a Chingola-based entrepreneur and owner of a mining company.
The opulence didn’t stop with the decor or the guest list.
South African DJ Tyler ICU and Zambia’s own Yo Maps also performed, delivering energetic sets that sealed the wedding’s reputation as one of the country’s most talked-about social events of the year.
As expected, social media was flooded with photos and videos of the celebration, sparking thousands of reactions, comments, and memes.

Here’s what some Facebook users had to say:
• Kelvin Sherminator commented: “Having high-profile people attend your wedding is not a guarantee of a happy marriage. Look what it did to Jennifer Lopez… how many celebs attended her weddings?” 🤷♂️
• Paul Sianga joked: “Soft life 🥰❤️. Some of us are broke—you might think we studied for a Bachelor of Poverty and Applied Suffering.” 😩📚 “Congratulations to them!” 🥰❤️
• Adam Kapungwe added: “Congratulations, but inviting Chile One instead of Diamond could have been better.”🎤🇿🇲
• Clement Machayi warned playfully: “We don’t want to hear stories of shootings or ‘help a sister, my hubby is on ORS’ after spending so much on the wedding.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 “Congratulations!” 🎈
• Thandiwe Kabangwe explained: “The groom’s father owns Mineral Link, a mining contractor with big deals in all three Solwezi mines. The bride’s father owns emerald mines in Northern and North-Western provinces. These are powerful business families 💼💎… This wedding was affordable for them. So was Diamond Platnumz… and Yo Maps too!” 💰🔥
• Temwani Banda summed it up with: “Life is for living ♥️♥️♥️. I love to read about this—where people spend because they’ve worked hard. It shows that not everyone is struggling in Zambia. This is money well spent!” 🙌🙌🙌 “Wishing them a beautiful marriage life ♥️♥️♥️♥️. Spend money to make money… and the guest list fye, tabesha ama gifts teyakulanda!” 💃💸 “See how money works #CIRCLES.”
From opulence to online buzz, the Karabassis wedding has officially entered Zambia’s wedding hall of fame.
