Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister, Chipoka Mulenga, has called on the Zambian Embassy in China to proactively seek new business and investment opportunities that will benefit Zambian enterprises.
Minister Mulenga made the appeal on Monday during a visit to the ongoing China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) in Changsha, Hunan Province, where a delegation of Zambian exhibitors and traders are showcasing their products and services.
In a statement issued in Lusaka, he urged the Embassy staff to stay vigilant and seize prospects that could enhance Zambia’s trade footprint, while also facilitating Zambia’s participation in future international trade expos of similar scale.
During his tour of the exhibition stands, Mulenga engaged with Zambian traders, encouraging them to expand their businesses and increase their visibility in the global market. He reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting their participation in such platforms.
The Minister also met with young Zambian entrepreneurs presenting innovative products under the International Trade Centre’s banner, commending their enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit.
He encouraged the youths to inspire others back home to explore international business opportunities from an early stage.
Following the expo visit, Minister Mulenga held meetings with several Chinese companies, including Launch Design Automotive Company, FARMSUM Company Limited, and Sionmarch Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing Company.
The China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo is a bi-annual event hosted in Changsha, bringing together commerce ministers, investors, and business leaders from across Africa and China to explore strategies for deepening trade and investment cooperation.
The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) also mobilized a delegation of Zambian businesses to participate actively in this year’s exhibition and trading activities.
