Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Gift Sialubalo, has reaffirmed government’s unwavering commitment to community transformation through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Speaking during the handover of grant cheques worth K2,480,000 to 62 beneficiaries in Chitambo Didtrict of Central Province on Saturday, Sialubalo warned against misusing the funds, urging recipients to invest wisely in their approved projects.

“These funds are not for sharing or diverting. They are meant to grow businesses, create jobs, and change lives,” he stressed.

Sialubalo applauded Chitambo for visible development in sectors such as health, education, and water, citing completed projects like maternity annexes, classroom blocks, and roads.

He also directed the local leadership to quickly hand over completed projects so citizens can begin benefiting from them.

“I also wish to direct the local leaders to quickly hand over to the Council projects which have been completed so that people can start using these facilities,” Sialubalo said

In response to rising food prices caused by drought, the Minister highlighted ongoing government interventions, including the Cash-for-Work program, social cash transfers, and support for mechanized agriculture.

Sialubalo reminded citizens that the increase of CDF from K1.6 million to K36.1 million per constituency is a sign of government’s commitment under President Hakainde Hichilema.
