Lusaka minister, Mulyata, warns against obstructing CDF projects

Lusaka Province Minister, Sheal Mulyata, has issued a stern warning saying any individual found obstructing the progress of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects in the province will be asked to step aside.

Speaking during a tour of projects in Luangwa District on Thursday, Mulyata said the move was aimed at ensuring the swift implementation of CDF initiatives, in line with President Hakainde Hichilema’s directive to accelerate development through an expanded CDF.

“We just have to start grading roads. If we find anyone blocking CDF projects, we will ask them to step aside. Everyone should be on their toes, especially as we approach 2026, so that we give a good report to the people,” she said.

The Minister emphasised the importance of starting immediate road grading works in Luangwa, following the President’s nationwide directive, adding that improved road infrastructure would lower the cost of doing business by facilitating faster movement of goods and services.

Mulyata also called for high productivity, accountability, and transparency in the management of CDF projects, stressing the need for communities to feel the tangible impact of government programmes.

During her visit, she inspected the Kavuula modern market as well as the Luangwa-Zambezi river confluence harbour ablution block, police cells at Luangwa Police Station, and selected roads within the district.

She further reminded local authorities of their crucial role in implementing government and presidential directives, urging councils to work in unison to achieve uniform development.

The Minister was accompanied on the tour by Luangwa District Commissioner Luke Chikani, Council Chairperson Lawrence Shaba, Council Secretary Grayson Sakala, Director of Works Mainda Mudenda, and Feira Constituency Development Fund Committee (CDFC) Chairperson Kephus Tembo.

Tembo thanked President Hichilema for increasing the CDF allocation from K1.6 million to the current K36.1 million, noting that the increment has enabled the district to embark on various development projects.
