Police in Lusaka have launched an investigation into an incident of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm (OABH) involving Chitambala Mwewa, vlogger and Managing Director of Simoson Building in Avondale.

The incident occurred around 08:00 hours on Monday near Simoson Building on Simon Mwewa Lane.

According to Police Assistant Public Relations Officer, Godfrey Chilabi, Mr. Mwewa had approached a group of street vendors and advised them to stop trading along the drainage and return to their designated trading area within Simon Mwewa Market.

“Brief facts of the matter are that Mr. Mwewa approached a group of vendors and advised them to desist from vending along the drainage on Simon Mwewa Lane and return to their designated trading area inside Simon Mwewa Market,” Chilabi said.

The group reportedly reacted violently, mobilising and pelting Mr. Mwewa with stones. One of the stones struck him on the forehead, causing visible swelling.

Police officers were dispatched to the scene but found that the suspects had already fled.

A medical report has since been issued to the complainant, and investigations are ongoing. No arrests have been made.

Chilabi appealed to members of the public with information that could help identify and apprehend the suspects to come forward.
